K9 ADVISORS - Premier Dog Trainers Bio
Edel
Miedes was born in Cuba to a life-long animal rescuer and
advocate – his mother. He started training dogs professionally
in the early 1990’s and has developed into South Florida’s
Premier Severe Behavior Dog Trainer and Behaviorist. He is a
graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelors
degree in Psychology with his primary focus being canine
behavior assessments and modifications. He is trained in all
levels of obedience, from basic to off leash, K9 protection
training, from family protection to Police K9 work, and severe
dog behavior problem solving. He spent 10 years in the financial
services sector gaining business experience and financial
stability. During this time, he continued to train the most
severe dogs for numerous rescue groups and dog training
facilities as well as provide training for other new dog
trainers at dog training facilities. He followed his dream of
founding his own dog training company based on his training
principles and methods. Today, his company, K9ADVISORS is well
known in South Florida, especially within the dog rescue
community, for resolving many different dog behavior problems
for many families and for helping many “un-adoptable” dogs in
rescue groups be adopted out to good, loving homes. He continues
to train other trainers through his comprehensive 3-year
Trainer’s Course. Through his web site www.K9ADVISORS.com , his
company continues developing to provide more resources to dog
owners, rescue groups, and pet-friendly people and businesses.
Edel is married to his supportive wife, Cindy, and has a teenage
son, Alexander, and a baby boy, Nicolas, expected in March of
2009.
Premier Dog TrainersAnne Shields was born and raised right here in Miami, Florida, by a Cuban-American mother, and an American father. Ever since she can remember, she was always surrounded by animals, and was also involved in animal rescue at a young age. Anne, always knew that her future career was going to be something involving animals.
She graduated Barry University with a Bachelor’s in Science in Biology, specialty of pre-vet (2003), because she had always considered becoming a veterinarian. During her college career, she would work part-time as a veterinarian technician. However, certain circumstances arose and her professional career path took a much different direction. Instead, Anne enrolled, and was accepted into the pharmacy program at Nova Southeastern University, but she realized that, that was not her passion. So, she left pharmacy school, and pursued her passion in helping animals, and is now training dogs and helping owners better understand and better communicate with their dog. Aside from training pets, she has also worked with several dogs at local no-kill shelters, to help increase their chances of getting adopted and finding their forever home.
Anne does much more than just train the dogs, due to her background as a vet tech, she also gives owners advice on things such as nutrition, the health benefits to spaying/neutering, etc.
She is trained in many different levels of obedience, from basic to off leash work, to protection training, as well as severe dog behavior problem solving. Anne has trained dogs of all different sizes, ages, and breeds. She has even had the pleasure of knowing that many of the dogs that she has helped, have ended up finding good, forever homes because of the work that she has done with them.
Not only does Anne work as a trainer and as an animal behaviorist, but she is still very involved with animal rescue, and also in animal rights, and animal law. She is one of the Board Members for the Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation (www.unitedagainstbsl.org) and she is a firm believer that no dog should be singled out and treated like a criminal based solely on the fact that it was born into this world a specific breed.
